KLF Awards Merck Animal Health Scholarships

April 29, 2024

The Kansas Livestock Foundation (KLF) has awarded 34 scholarships totaling $38,500 for the 2024-25 school year. This year’s scholarships set a record for the most scholarships and most dollars awarded to students through KLF. Thank you to all scholarship sponsors and supporters for your generosity.

Two students attending the Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine each have been awarded a $1,500 scholarship through the Merck Animal Health Cartridges for Cash program. Receiving veterinary school scholarships are Maggie Brown of Wallace, daughter of Nathan and Sara Brown; and Chance Kopsa of Beloit, son of Kyle and Cassie Kopsa.

One Fort Hays State University (FHSU) student and four K-State students received $1,000 Cartridges for Cash scholarships. Sadie Marchiano of Fort Scott will be a senior at FHSU and is the daughter of Gary and Kylene Palmer. K-State students receiving this scholarship are Ethan Kneisler of Lyndon, son of James and Kristin Kneisler; Caleb McAfee of Valley Falls, son of David and Janet McAfee; Karsyn Sikes of Clyde, daughter of Rusten and Rebecca Sikes; and Hailey Wurtz of Seneca, daughter of Jerin and Stephanie Wurtz.

These scholarships are funded by Ralgro and Revalor cartridges being turned in to Merck representatives or to KLA. Each cartridge is worth 25¢. Since Haskell County KLA members turned in the most cartridges in 2023, one student from that county was awarded a $1,000 Cartridges for Cash scholarship. Katelynn Delaplane of Satanta will be a freshman at FHSU and is the daughter of Doug and Kelly Delaplane.
